Book Club: Exploring Literature

Fort Lauderdale High School’s Book Club, led by Ms. Knopp, provides students with a safe space to discuss various literary subject matter taught in their English classes.

Book Club members consider a variety of books they enjoy and then vote on one as a group to read and discuss.

“In addition, they are reading books that appeal to them and are relatable,” Ms. Knopp said, “followed by discussions with their peers, which exposes them to different perspectives.”

Students in the club agree on the support this environment provides them.

“It allows me to be open about my opinions about something whether people agree with me or not” said Xeo Jones (10), a student who has been in book club since freshman year.

Knopp enjoys the reactions that students share through their discussions.

“I thoroughly enjoy seeing the moment a member has an epiphany about a book scenario! The look on one’s face is priceless!” she shared.

Held at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays, students meet in the Media Center to experience the thrill and literary fun that Book Club has to offer. Stop by and join today!
